Baking made simple

Chef William Tan’s baking demo on 11 February 2010 at Sunrise Fun Zone was well attended by 23 residents from Japan, Taiwan, Australia, India, China and Malaysia.

He imparted valuable baking tips on how to make the perfect Buttery Suji Cake, followed by two types of cookies - Classic Cranberries Oatmeal and Coconut Chip. Earlybirds received free Amul Butter samples

Whether it's the 'tossing' of Yee Sang for great fortune, mandarin 'kam' oranges for wealth, good luck and blessings from the God of Prosperity, ang-pows for goodwill, Chinese Calligraphy to create good feng-shui, Lion Dance to ward away evil spirits or everything red for good luck, there was something for everyone that afternoon.

If you think that good manners are a thing of the past, think again or hop onto the Sunrise Community Fun Ride and you will be proven wrong! A Korean mother who was struggling with her baby pram with a young child in tow, was pleasantly surprised when the Sunrise ‘co-pilot’ helped lift her pram onto the bus and even extended his hand to gentlemanly guide her six year old daughter up the bus steps.

While thousands partied away on New Year’s Eve at Solaris Mont’Kiara, the Sunrise Community Fun Ride team was hard at work ferrying Sunrise Mont’Kiara residents to the Countdown venue from 8.00pm. With a full load on each of the five extra trips until 1.30am, over 80 residents found the shuttle service very convenient as they did not have to worry about parking or ‘drink and drive’ restrictions.
