Curry mee was the dish that made a small stall at the edge of a coffee shop famous. It takes its name after its location in Lorong Seratus Tahun (or Hundred Years Lane) in the food lover’s paradise of Penang.

The recipe has been handed down through the generations from father to sons, one of whom brought this to Kuala Lumpur.

Penang’s hawker fare is truly Malaysian, with a rich cultural mix of recipes from early Chinese migrants (Cantonese, Teochew, Hokkien, Hainanese, Szechuan) fused with Indonesian and Nyonya flavours. This is further spiced up and made uniquely ‘Penang-style’ with additional Indian, Malay and Thai influences.
