Funny that badminton was mentioned because at the courts of Mont’Kiara Palma and Pines, a heated badminton tournament was actually going on.

The weather these days are a tad bit unpredictable. Sun for an hour, drenched with rain the next. It’s like the weather playing a game of badminton, hitting the shuttle cock back and forth. Funny that badminton was mentioned because at the courts of Mont’Kiara Palma and Pines, a heated badminton tournament was actually going on.
Yes, it is the annual Sunrise Smash Hits badminton tournament, held on 14 and 15 November 2009. There were four categories in the tournament, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Boy’s Single and Girl’s Single. Skill, agility and astounding hand-eye coordination were on display as players traded points like boxers exchanging punches.
Forehands and backhands quickly became drop shots, smashes, lobs and net plays… all in the name of fun and cold hard cash prizes. Total prizes amounted to RM3,000 and a trophy for bragging rights were up for grabs. While the victors took home the big prizes, the valuable goodie bags made every one a winner.
