The tennis courts at Mont'Kiara Palma were the battle grounds for 23 competitors of the Sunrise Tennis Slam 2011. The competition was intense and fierce with Yong Yew Choong, Sun Jung Sun and Danial Hayes emerging champions of the Men's Singles, Women's Singles and Boys' Singles respectively.

In men's action, the final saw Malaysian Yong Yew Choong against Indian Shrenik Mehta. The match was evenly fought in the beginning until Mehta twisted his ankle whilst retrieving a shot from his opponent. Despite the injury, Shrenik Mehta put up a valiant effort but the Malaysian proved too strong and eventually won of 8-3. Yong Yew Choong took home RM400 and Shrenik Mehta won RM350 while Edwin Loh finished third with RM300.

"The players showed great sportsmanship and fighting spirit especially Mehta. He gave his best and soldiered on even though his fitness level wasn't at 100 per cent," said the 30 year-old men's winner Yong Yew Choong.

Over in the women's draw, it was a duel between defending champion Tan Hei Li and Korean newcomer Son Jung Sun. The Korean began the match by storming to a comfortable 7-1 lead. However, Hei Li did not give up without a challenge and clawed her way back into the match making the score 7-3 after the gruelling heat took its toll on the Korean.

Jung Sun managed to hold her ground and eventually clinched the title, upsetting Hei Li after more than an hour on court with a final score of 8-3. Jung Sun and Hei Li received RM300 and RM250 each for their efforts whilst Japan's Kae Yuura placed third, winning RM200.

The boys' singles category pitted five teenagers aged between 13 to 16, in a round-robin format. Danial Hayes dominated the competition and finished top of the group. He bagged RM200 and was joined on the podium by first runner-up Amshad Ashraff and second runner-up Au Kai Zen who won RM150 and RM100 respectively.
