Starting today, for two weeks it's school holidays!

This fact dawned on me on my way to work this morning. And how did I know this?

Taking my usual route from the city centre to Mont'Kiara, I first noticed the absence of - traffic policemen and long queues - at busy intersections. This brief respite is indeed a welcome relief and I intend to enjoy the less stressful commutes to and from work for the next 10 days.

Another recent development that has brought smiles to those who frequent Mont'Kiara and its community, is the opening of the Mont'Kiara ramp along Sprint Highway on June 3, for quick access to Penchala Link.

After seven long years, this is the first step to relieve congestion in the area, especially during peak hours. Also in the pipeline is the construction of a slip road to ease traffic for motorists heading to Federal Highway, Petaling Jaya, Bangsar, Ampang and Hulu Kelang, targeted to be ready in October.

For the immediate future, there could be further good news once FIFA World Cup 2010 starts on June 11. Die-hard football fans have been known to take the entire month off to watch all 64 matches live (a point which Astro can't seem to stress enough).

So here's me indulging in more wishful thinking for stress-free journeys to last a month.

Conclusion : There is an upside to Cup fever. Ole!
