Hunt Sparks GREEN Awareness

What happens when a Motor Treasure Hunt comes with a Best Dressed Team competition offering attractive prizes? It becomes the highlight of the event! The recent SEF Charity Hunt saw participants going all out to dress in ‘eco-friendly’ garb wearing t-shirts with ‘green’ messages and recycled costumes made from an assortment of paper, flowers, leaves, plastic bottles, cans, carton boxes and old umbrellas.

Stone-aged Flintstones and the flitting Fairies!

The Flintstones from Bedrock rumbled in dressed in garbage bags, while Tinkerbell and her winged friends flitted gracefully to the rendezvous point at Sunrise Sports Zone. Also spotted were a family of dogs with their chocolate-coloured noses close to the ground in search of clues.

Woof! Woof! Here comes the Re-Cycling Hounds

It was creativity at its best with one team wearing box files as an armour decorated with plastic bottles, tin cans, dried leaves and paper, four ‘farmers’ in gunny sacks and straw hats and a group decked in colourful umbrellas, poncho-style.

Approximately 340 people in 86 cars had a mind-boggling time cracking clues in the name of charity on the bright morning of 31 July. The SEF Charity Hunt 2010 organised by Sunrise Bhd had the excited participants traversing the suburbs of Mont’Kiara, Bangsar and Petaling Jaya in the pursuit of prizes worth over RM20,000 to be won.

the Whacky Nuts
Champion for Open Category

After five hours on the road, 35 questions, four treasure riddles and two mind-guessing challenges, the Whacky Nuts proved they were the best clue-busters taking home RM3,488 in cash and kind. First runner up went to ‘2 Sneakies & 2 Innocents’ and 2nd runner up was none other than Hunter R Us.

In the open category, the best dressed team went to DGB Social Club #2 followed by SukaHati in 2nd place and Scavenger’s in 3rd. In the closed category, the ‘barking’ Re-Cycling Hounds came out tops with the angelic Tinker Bells and ‘Can Meh?’ who were dressed as the stone-aged Flintstones in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

A total amount of RM25,000 was raised for the Sunrise Education Foundation (SEF). SEF is a non-profit organisation that provides financial aid to deserving students with outstanding academic achievements to pursue their tertiary education locally or overseas.

First timer Joanne Khong and her team mate may not have won a prize this round, but was happy knowing that their contribution would win the hearts of school-going children through the funds collected for the Sunrise Education Foundation.
